About Eupouria Matcha

Eupouria was created from a love of Japanese matcha, tea culture and the small rituals that bring a sense of calm and connection to everyday life.

Our organic First Harvest Matcha is sourced primarily from Kagoshima, Japan, where carefully selected tencha is graded and blended to create a consistent balance of natural sweetness, creamy texture, deep umami and gentle bitterness.

Inspired by the principles of the Japanese tea ceremony — harmony, respect, purity and tranquillity — we want Eupouria to be more than simply a matcha brand. Our aim is to build a community around learning, enjoying and appreciating matcha and its origins.

How Our Matcha Is Selected & Blended

Our matcha is crafted from carefully selected tea leaves sourced primarily from Kagoshima, Japan. Rather than relying on a single farm, we work with trusted farmers and local tea markets to source high-quality organic tencha.

To create a consistent flavour profile, our tea master carefully grades and blends cultivars to balance aroma, taste, colour and texture.

The first grading is done using the Aracha Tencha (after steaming and drying), then Shiage Tencha is prepared through a meticulous multi-step process by sorting out fine stems, leaf veins and pasteurisation. Our tea master performs the final grading based on the Shiage tencha which is extracted with boiling water where the colour, aroma, and taste are all assessed with precision (as seen in the image provided).

This rigorous process ensures that every cup of Eupouria matcha delivers a consistent premium experience.

Why Kagoshima Matcha?

Kagoshima is one of Japan's major tea-growing regions, known for its diverse cultivars, fertile volcanic soils and strong tea-producing tradition. Eupouria sources primarily from Kagoshima because it gives us access to high-quality tencha with the sweetness, umami and vibrant colour we look for in our matcha.

Our First Harvest Matcha blends Sakimidori, Saemidori and Okumidori cultivars to create a balanced and versatile cup suited to traditional usucha and koicha as well as matcha lattes.
